34 aftershocks force people to sleep outdoors in J & K
Jammu, Oct. 10 (PTI): With ground under their feet still trembling, people of Jammu and Kashmir are now haunted by fear of the killer quake as aftershocks, described by experts as "normal activity", continue to rock the region forcing them to sleep outdoors braving the chill.
Spending the night in the open is now a common sight in several regions of the state with hundreds of people converging at stadia and other open grounds lest they be caught unawares.
"At least fear of death will not hover over our minds while sleeping here. At home we will not be able to have even a wink," said Surinder Khanna, who came to the mini-parade stadium here with his family. The fear of Khanna and hundreds of others like him is not unfounded as 34 aftershocks hit the region since the devastating quake on Saturday.
